FAQ
What is the best method to contact you?
For all booking inquires please use my “BOOKING FORM” page on www.nathanmarti.com
If it is not in regards to a tattoo appointment please use the following email: nathanmarti@hollowearthtattoo.com
If you reach out to me about booking an appointment by another means I will just provide you with a link to my website.
Do you accept any tattoo concept?
No, unfortunately I do not have the time to take on every project request. However I’d be more than happy to help you find an artist that best suits the style of tattoo you’re looking for.
How do you choose the concepts you
want to tattoo?
I choose the concepts based on the emails sent. I look for unique design ideas that spark my interest and intrigue my imagination. Im currently interested in the Dark Arts realm and enjoy making creature and monster concepts while incorporating bio organic structures and abstract forms. I also like to study facial anatomy along with human or animal skulls.
What happens if you don’t choose my
project?
If I don’t choose to take on your project I’ll suggest checking out the other Hollow Earth resident artist.
When do you open your books and
take on new projects?
I open my books and start reviewing emails every seasonal quarter. I will book out my next 3 months then close off booking until the next quarter. Tentatively, booking happens the first week of the months February, May, August, and November.
*I do not book or respond to booking request outside of those specific periods.
Should I send a second email if I don’t
get a response?
Please don’t send another request for the same booking period. This will only create confusion for my booking process. If the booking period has ended and you haven’t received an email from me, you then may send another request for the following booking period.
Can I see my design before my
appointment?
You can only see your design before hand if you’re traveling from out of state. Otherwise your design will be presented to you the day of the appointment. Any minor changes to the design can be made that day but major changes to the design could result in an immediate drop of the project all together. In certain cases the design will be just a rough sketch and the day of the appointment we will freehand the design on with markers. Depending on the size and complexity of the design this process can take anywhere from 1 to 3 hours to complete before any tattooing starts.
Can I bring someone to my appointment?
Currently I’m asking that you show up to your appointment alone. We are trying to reduce foot traffic at the studio until the pandemic subsides. Please contact me if this request isn’t possible.
How long will my session be?
This depends on various factors including, design, pain tolerance, and budget.
A half day is 2.5 hours and a full day is 5 hours. I work in 2.5 hour intervals and take a 20 min lunch break half way through the session. After the 5th hour the session is over. If you would like to pay for additional time an hourly rate will be applied.
What can I do to prepare for my
appointment?
Please read over all information provided on my website. This will keep you informed on what to expect. Otherwise, get a good nights rest and eat something before coming in. You are allowed to bring something to drink and snack on while you get tattooed. Keeping your blood sugar levels up will help you get through longer sessions. We will have music playing through out the studio but you’re welcome to bring your own source of distraction. Devices for movies, shows or music is encouraged however please make sure to bring headphones so it’s not a distraction for the artist working. Its also good to drink plenty of water before, during, and after your tattoo session.
What if I’m feeling sick on the day
of my appointment?
Please refrain from coming to your appointment when you are feeling sick. We will be working in close quarters and its almost a guarantee that if contagious I will catch whatever it is you have. I don’t get sick leave working as an artist so missing out on work for being sick is frustrating. We can reschedule your appointment for a later date. Your mental and body strength will hold up much better when you’re feeling 100%.
What if I’m running late to my
appointment?
Please let me know by text or email if you’re running late to your appointment. Anything over 30 mins can result in a rescheduling. If you no call no show, you will lose your appointment and any chance at future appointments.
Do you do cover-ups?
I will take on certain cover-ups. I prefer to have more artistic freedom for cover-ups do to the complex nature of this process. Since I mostly tattoo in black and grey a minimum 2 sessions is required for cover-ups. This is to insure that the old tattoo will be non-visible or highly disgusted by the multi-layered new design.
What if I’m traveling from out of state?
I highly recommend purchasing travel insurance just in the rare case that we have to reschedule. This almost never happens but in the off chance that is does its best to be covered.
